Car poolers should leave the centre at 9:15 to meet up at the intersection of Lagoon Road and Ocean Boulevard (where the public washrooms are). Chris and I will meet up with you at the Washroom parking about 9:25.

We'll be commencing the walk at 9:25 by walking back along Ocean Boulevard.  We'll continue over the bridge and Fort Rodd Hill (on the right) to enter the Royal Roads University grounds to take either the longer or shorter route depending on weather and hiker conditions on the day. (We could decide to stop off for an espresso at the Habitat Cafe) - Or we could walk it the other way round, starting at Royal Roads.

Royal Roads and Coburg Peninsular Tuesday Jan 24, 2012

It was a rainy day at around 9:30 when four water-resistent Ad Hoc Hikers started this walk. However, as on the last couple of walks, the rain stopped almost as soon as we started walking. We even caught glimpses of the sun as we made our way round this excellent hike. We saw a naval vessel quite near the shore with what looked like the crew in parade order both fore and aft.  Fortunately, although quite close to the shore, this ship wasn't the Costa Concordia, and il Capitano Francesco Schettino was not on board (as usual, you might say).

We checked out the remains of the cottage and garage in the RRU grounds en route to the Cheese House..

..and then made our way up Charlie's Trail. The mini waterfalls at the top of the first section of the trail were in full flow. Charlie's trail is slated for improvements this year.

This was a satisfying hike of about 8K; the RRU grounds were great and will allow for some variation as we do this hike again.
